Episode 08: On the Power of the Spoken Word | Carl Patterson (Guest)
Description
Words are powerful! As our stories unfold and we find ourselves in a chapter of pain and suffering, it's not uncommon that words were utilized as the weapon of choice whether you were on the receiving end, or you were the one wielding the sword... or maybe both.
But all hope is not lost. Yes, words can cut us to the core, but words can be extremely healing as well. The right combination of words along with an infectious rhythm and the proper inflection…… when done well, words can sneak by our barriers and defenses and reach right into our souls to offer us some semblance of peace and healing.
We are happy to have spoken word artist and licensed therapist, Carl Patterson on Therapists’ Take to talk about the Power of the Spoken the Word. Carl is not only a phenomenal therapist, but he is also a talented spoken word artist. We hope you enjoy this LIVE broadcast of Therapists’ Take.

In this broadcast, Josh mentions hearing once that "happy people listen to sad songs." After a little more research we learned a little more about this phenomenon sometimes referred to as the "Tragedy Paradox." Here's a good article on the issue.
